But the Pussy Willows are out in full force and I ventured out on Sunday to gather the usual armloads to create my new wreath. I love gathering these branches. It was quite a nice day and it always feels so good to be outside. I could hear geese honking, ravens croaking, and water running. I could also smell wood smoke in the air - so sweet. Someone must have been cleaning up their yard already.
My wreath looks so at home on my new green door (painted last autumn). It's a very authentic representation of what our world looks like right now. Twiggy and branchy with a promise of spring.
This year I added a little birdhouse and bird to create a little interest and make it different from other years.
Welcome! |
I threw the moss balls in - thought I could get away with that - hey - I needed some colour!
Last year I created a tutorial on how to make this wreath. If you want to see it take a look at "An Explosion of Pussywillows". You can see that last year we did not have snow - it's hit or miss around here. I also photographed the wreath against a little red barn - had a lot of fun with that, I did!

What a beautiful pussy willow wreath! I love the addition of the bird house and cute little bird, they create such a happy entry!
ReplyDeletereally cute! as are you. :)
ReplyDeleteBarb, this is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful job you did here.
Absolutely love your wreath! In our church we give out pussy willows instead of palms on Palm Sunday. They are very special to me. Again, beautiful wreath and great photos!
ReplyDeleteSo envious of your creativity. This is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteI have to laugh at the hair story. I wore my hair like that for years and just recently decided to grow it (I want long hair when I turn 60). It's at that length where I'm regretting my decision. I have very thick hair and it's heavy. When hot weather hits - that will be the real test of my patience with it. I like your cut very much - it's youthful and fun. And I like your wreath too. I don't find pussy willows but you have oodles of them it appears. I can't believe all that snow you have, I guess I didn't realize how far north you live. I think it's beautiful and I'd take some of it. We had very little snow last winter and it's my favorite of the seasons. We're in the thick of spring here - very warm. But it's lovely. happy week to you Barb.
ReplyDeleteI love your photos and your creative use of the pussy willows. They look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh I just love your new hairdo....it is so kicky and fun. And the pussy willow wreath is stunning, so full. So enjoy seeing you and your lovely decorating!! Enjoy that Spring porch!!

ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky to be able to go out and get this lovely shrub! We have to pay a lot for it here! A beautiful wreath :)
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Love that armload of pussy willows.
ReplyDeleteOh my, take a bow!
ReplyDeleteYou've put a "spring" in my step with your creative loveliness.
Have a blessed day!
Wow ~ you guys have way more snow than we do! Love the wreath Barb and I think I may go out on the week-end to hunt for some pussy willows of my own.
ReplyDeleteWow, so lovely. Brings back memories of growing up and picking pussy willow branches from my friend's backyard ...

Very cute wreath! Unfortunately we don't have any pussy willow around here that I am aware of. Now, could you tell me the color of paint on your door? I am looking to paint my shutters and door this spring...and green is a complimentary color for my roof, however I have been fighting using green...but I love the color on your front door, at least the way it is showing on my computer...so please color and brand? Thank you so much!

Beautiful photos and a stunning wreath, the birdhouse and little bird are the perfect addition to it. Your entry is so inviting and gorgeous. I've never seen pussywillow, don't know that we have it in Australia.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulously abundant wreath!! So fun to gather everything in your own backyard.
ReplyDeleteGlad you joined our Cinch party.

Oh God! That's a very beautiful wreath. The bird added even more beauty. That's a very nice idea to gather from your own yard and save on decors. Great job! :)
