Karlee (yes she was wearing a lower cut top than she usually does and she is very blonde), and moi (yes, looking dumpy with grey hairs). |
I've been so busy that I haven't been in to see my hairdresser for much too long, therefore my hair was flat and very drab looking (I'm sure this must have been it) . . .
I usually see her in the morning but I couldn't get in until 8:00 last night and apparently she goes into overdrive at night . . .
It all started out fine, I really like her and trust her (mostly). But I could tell she was a bit more hyper than usual and that's OK - she's quite fun. Well, I made the suggestion that maybe we could change up my style a bit - cut one side shorter than the other side - you've seen those styles, right? And it wasn't much of a change since my hair is mostly short anyway.
She was ALL for it. And so it began. My heart pounds to think of it.
Are other people as timid as I am when it comes to getting their hair cut? I swear I'd rather be at the dentist.
'I'm going to use the razor tonight' she says. OK, she's done that before. All the while she is joking around with the other stylist, talking about her ex, her friends, her cousins and how she loves to have a glass of wine (tee hee) but it sure makes work the next day hard . . . gulp.
'Barb! how are ya doin'?
'Oh, fine' I manage to squeak out as my hair is flying left, right, and centre.
I usually don't get so worried but when I start to notice rooster tails - that's cause for concern. My heart is pounding and I'm trying to think of what am I going to do? Then she pulls out the texturing scissors - aaack - I'm feeling a bit green and manage to say, 'uumm, Karlee I think it's short enough'. Inside I'm screaming PLEASE STOP!
'Oh, not yet, miss Barbara . . . I am not finished with you' she screams (or did I imagine that?)
Oh, the horror, I cannot go on . . .
to be continued . . .
LOL! now you know you're going to HAVE to show us!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to show us??? The last time I had my hair cut, she cut it way too short, hairs sticking up all over. The one consolation is...it does grow back. Does pulling on your hair make it grow faster??
ReplyDeletePoor Barb! Does it help to know that most of us have been in that chair once or twice? Do we get pictures?
ReplyDeleteOh, brings make memories of my childhood haircuts. You are going to show us, right?

ReplyDeleteOkay, I need to see a picture :) You poor thing, I would have been running for the doors at the mention of the razor.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I kinda feel bad laughing about this, haha
ReplyDeleteOh no...I broke out in a sweat just reading this! I'v been there and done that...I sure feel for you and I think the best thing to do is to post some pictures and you just might find that we all love it! Let's see it Barb! :)
ReplyDeleteI hate going to the hairdresser too. But I'm sure it turned out ok...must see photos.
ReplyDeleteOh my ~ I couldn't help but giggle as you sound like me. I know it grows back but I still have to be able to do something with in while that happens! Can't wait to hear the rest...
ReplyDeleteMy heart is racing just reading this!
ReplyDeleteNo one is more anxiety-ridden than I when it comes to a haircut. I think that is the only reason I keep mine long. A pony tail cures all evils!! :-)
Happy Sunday to you (I hope!) :-)
You make me laugh. I've cut my own hair for years but can imagine you sitting there but certainly not looking dumpy. Pleased to have read part two!
