Texture Tuesday the Phoebe eDition
Things are definitely looking grey (and a little bit white) around here. I can't help but reflect on this past year of blogging. I started on December 9, 2010. Everything was new. I was just learning how to use my DSLR, and everything I saw was an exciting opportunity for a unique new photo. Now that a winter, spring, summer and autumn have passed and I'm staring down another winter I'm wondering how I'm going to find new inspiration. I have to believe I will even if it means buying that bouquet of flowers rather than searching around my yard on a fresh, warm morning that seems so full of possibilities. I know that new adventures and photo opportunities are waiting, I just have to stay aware of the beauty around me no matter where I am or what the time of year.
I used three layers of 'Phoebe' by Kim Klassen (love this one!) Thanks, Kim!
Multiply (desaturated)
Luminosity
Hue
and a vignette
Love the processing - looks like a vintage postcard.
ReplyDeleteI love your image....you've managed to find so much beauty in a flower from last summer. Love the texture application and hint of yellow in the petals.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about that first year, how everything is exciting and new. After 3 years exploring the world of photography, I've wondered the same thing...but so far I've managed to keep it going...trying to look at things in new ways.
Love those dried and whithered leaves, seems strange to say they are "beautiful"...but they ARE! Beauty is everywhere (I've learned that from my camera!).

Even a faded flower is beautiful, isn't it? I know what you mean about winter coming, I already feel like it's been hard for me to adjust my photography, from the things I photograph to how different the light is.
ReplyDeletei don't doubt you will continue to find beauty to share with us. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I am sure you will find beauty like your beautiful flower that has passed it's prime but still beautiful. You have that "eye" for capturing the beauty around you.
ReplyDeleteWow..great shot! I'm sure you will find new inspiration this winter!
ReplyDeleteWonderful texture work and congratulations for one year of blogging.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful - I love how you pulled just a little color into it. great processing!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful picture! I think the hardest part about winter (in Canada anyways) is how few hours of daylight there are in a day.... it's tough to photograph anything in the dark : )
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll find inspiration, Barb! Who, if not you:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful picture, by the way.
Oh, I love this image. It is so perfect for late autumn-it really tells the story of where we're at in time-headed for winter that is. This is super lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love the quote and the texture application.
ReplyDeleteOhhh very nice! =)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great processing! I'm sure there will be many photo opportunities around for you! :-)
ReplyDeleteyou've elevated a dried, spent flower to something extraordinarily beautiful. it's very romantic. and I have no doubt that where there is beauty you will see it. every single day. congrats on one year of blogging! happy day to you Barb.

ReplyDeleteA beautiful quote to go with this somewhat sad image.
ReplyDeleteLove the process you have used on the texture. Never thought about desaturating the layer, I'll have to try it.
There is just something about shells of flowers that I love. I don't find it sad...I find them hauntingly beautiful. I love shooting the remains of flowers...wierd I know...but this drew me in right away.
ReplyDeletereally beautiful texture work here!!
ReplyDeleteYour texture work brings out the beauty in this faded flower!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous processing! And I like what you have to say about being aware of the beauty of your surroundings throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteThat's where textures come to the rescue: they give many old photos a new lease of life, to keep you amused over the lean months.
ReplyDeleteAnd, as you showed here today, they associate so well with tired flowers that are over.
This is really Awesome!
ReplyDeleteand you used one of my FAVE quotes!
Excellent job!

The flower petals remind me a=of a skirt blown around your legs in the wind. Quite pretty.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting as you move through your second year of recording what you find and how differently you may look at things.
Again a wonderful photo!
