Burlap inspired banister

I'm slowly getting my Christmas decorations just the way I want them. This is the earliest I have ever started and the most time I've ever spent on them! Egads, I took the banister apart two times and settled on the third version . . . Enough, I say! Cutting strips of burlap, stitching up the edges (yes, I had to - or else they would disintegrate) and tying the bows wasn't hard but took me the better part of a day. I'm not complaining - really - I'm quite pleased and quite pleased that it's all done and ready for Christmas. Hmmmm, what am I going to do next month?

burlap bows, sparkly garland and white lights

once again, the guest of honour, my authentic duck decoy (Thank you, Tobin)

two strips of burlap for my end tables

and old mason jars that my Mother-in-Law graciously gave me which I filled with tiny birch cones (check out those lids!)

This theme is fitting perfectly with my dictionary book page wreath at my front entrance.

I'm incorporating more natural materials in my decorating this year but that is not to say I'm not adding some sparkle - I think a combination of the two works quite well, don't you? Happy Decorating!!

  4. You do fabulous work. The banister is gorgeous. Wonderful photos. I did the front porch and am in the process of now doing the tree. Getting things done early gives me the opportunity to enjoy more since I'm at work so much. Again, beautiful!
