I simply love taking this road trip in the summer. Especially in August when the sun is hot, the sky is blue and the fields are starting to ripen.
I can't begin to describe the light - it is hazy, soft, and it spreads right through my soul, stirring up memories like birds in the sky.
. . . the old familiar red brick prairie school house - now simply a place for birds to roost . . . |
. . . ripening grain fields that rustle and sway in the warm breezes . . . |
When travellers pass through across our great plain,
They all view our home, they all say the same:
"It's simple and flat!" They've not learned to see,
The particular beauty that's now part of me.
