Yesterday I went for a walk and took a different path - one that I've never taken before. On the whole, our landscape is brown, muddy, snowy and at first glance, not too interesting.
But if you keep an eye out - there is wonder and beauty everywhere. Amongst a tangle of fallen trees I noticed that there was a lot of lichen on the branches. There are all kinds of lichens and I've decided not to try to explain what they are - it's a bit complicated and I don't want to give false info.
I will simply say that I thought these fluffy tufts were fascinating - and I'll leave it at that!
On this same walk I spied the quintessential harbinger of spring - our robin:
Not so. Last night Environment Canada issued a winter? storm warning for our area (whaa?? I thought this was spring . . .) This morning I would say there is a foot of snow on the ground. Oh my goodness. I'm going to have to bore you with more snow photos . . .
Beautiful shots of the robin- such a pretty bird. That first shot is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures!
ReplyDeleteWe got dumped on too - a good 4-5 inches. Yuck. But the sun is shining today, and the robins are singing!
Jo
Beautiful shots, love all of them.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.

Oh no, not snow again. And just when you thought it was Spring. Lovely shots, and I certainly don't mind seeing your snow images!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I bet that robin was surprised! Love the last shot!
ReplyDeleteThe gate reminds me of all of the times I had to get off of my horse to open one of these. (I could open a metal gate from my horses back, but the wire ones were too unruly to trust.) It's funny what pops into your head sometimes when you see a picture.
oh my. one more winter blast.
ReplyDeletelove the robin on the fence photos!
Great photos! And you can bet that robin was as surprised as you with the snow!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots I love that first robin shot!
ReplyDeleteRobin is so pretty!
ReplyDeletePlease, Spring...come soon! That lichen is wonderful...such a large clump of it, too. The robins were here a few weeks ago,but I haven't seen many lately. The grosbeaks and goldfinches have taken over my three feeders and the space below.
