When I look at my spring mantel I feel that it's quite plain. Well, maybe it's just simple . . . I like that word better! When I spied some pussy willows in the ditch in late February (earliest ever), I decided I couldn't wait any longer to bring a bit of spring love into the house.

I love the 'old' wood mirror! |

add two framed pictures . . . |

a tiny birdhouse . . . |

some moss balls . . . |

and pussywillows . . . |

Pretty! |
I bought the big 'old' wood mirror from Home Sense and at the same time noticed the two black framed pictures with the trees. They could have been photographs taken from my dining room window! They really drew me in - I love the fact that there is a tiny bit of green growth showing.
I added three moss balls and a tiny bird house which I found at our country gift store. I also found a pretty yellow pillow and layered it on top of a light green one to brighten up my brown chair.
The sun is so bright right now and it was pouring in as I took these photos. Everything looks so cheerful. Spring is here, in my house at least.

OH, that's just beautiful! How inspiring! I needed that. I think the only thing gracing our mantel right now is dust and that's not too stylish or creative! Hmmm...gonna have fun brainstorming this one! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHappy seeing beautiful!

i LOVE the naturalness of it. really like those framed birch trees, too!
ReplyDeleteI really really like your mantel!! I have such a hard time decorating mine...I am never happy with it...it's long...narrow...and tall...making me feel as if everything is lined up with their back against the wall! Again let me say...I TRULY LOVE this mantel!

ReplyDeleteI thought for SURE you took those photos on your mantle! I need to soon change out my mantle too...not sure what I'm going to do yet, the inspiration hasn't struck. But I do love pussy willows!
ReplyDeleteLove that you found some pussy willows ~ I need to go out on the week-end and see if I can find some myself. The mantle looks great Barb ~ those tree photos are fantastic. Have a great week-end.
ReplyDeleteI am envious of your pussy willows! Your mantle is beautiful, i like that it is so simple and clean. Fresh.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a mantle. I miss that from the home that I grew up in. Oh...now I am homesick for the Pussy Willows that my mother grew there. So are you posting Holly Hocks next? LOL!
ReplyDeleteI really like the look that you've achieved! I only wish spring was showing itself in my parts!
ReplyDeleteI love your mantel. It is not plain at all... it is so beautifully layered. The scale is perfection. The pussy willows are like a whisper of what's to come and the art with the Birch Trees (I think) are gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is plain at all! I love the pussy willow. I'm a new follower, would love for you to follow back!
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, I love the simplicity of this and the moss balls had me at "hello". Perfect balance of textures. :)
