An early autumn afternoon

Yesterday I went out and about looking to see what I could find. The weather has been very nice here this September and it was just one of those very peaceful, warm days. It was a bit overcast which just made everything seem softer.

I am still loving my canola fields

After cruising around the countryside (and stopping at my favourite country store) I came home and took a look in my garden. It still looks beautiful with lots of flowers still blooming. This autumn sedum is just starting to open, but the frenzied bees weren't waiting for anything - they were all over the place.

Oh, and the other thing I did was scrounge around some abandoned buildings and you wouldn't believe what I came home with . . . (a door). I have it hidden under the deck. I didn't take any photos of me dragging it to the car and hefting it into the back of my vehicle - I was too anxious and it was not easy navigating through the wheat field with Canada Thistle outnumbering the wheat (ouch!). I'm seriously too old to be doing such things - but then I guess you are only as old as you feel and my passion for old weathered things simply cannot be denied.

    Those canola fields are amazing. I have never seen those before and your bee shots are terrific. Love that deep red coneflower!! I love to drive in the country, but I have never been fortunate enough to come home with a "door". Will wait for future photos of what you do with the door.

    The first landscape is my favorite. I like the wavey feel in the lines of the field. It really draws you into the photo.

    The texture of the fields is wonderful. I love that first shot!
    The first shot of the coneflower really shows off that wonderful color and what lovely bokeh.

    Sounds like you had quite a nice adventure yesterday! The landscape photos are so beautiful and I love the bee photos. The flower they are on is so pretty. Lovely photos!

    These are beautiful photographs Barb!
    I love the way the light seems to soften some at this time of year. They described it on the news tonight as "milky" light. I thought that was a perfect description.

    I love this coneflower. Except for the center of it, it looks very much like one of my favorites, the African Daisy.

    I want one of those coneflower plants! Beautiful...and your editing is wonderful.

    Love the harvested canola fields; canola is grown in this valley but I've never seen it after harvest.
